6.35mm TS Pinout
The two-contact 1/4-inch jack used for unbalanced mono instrument and line signals.
Overview
TS (Tip-Sleeve) is the 6.35mm (1/4 inch) two-conductor connector found on electric guitars, amplifiers, and many pieces of audio gear. It carries a single unbalanced mono signal: the tip is the signal (hot) and the sleeve is ground/shield.
Because it is unbalanced, TS cables are kept short to limit noise pickup. The same 1/4-inch body in a three-contact TRS form is used for stereo or balanced connections.
Pinout
| Pin | Name | Function | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| T | Signal (Tip) | AUDIO / SIGNAL | Mono signal / hot conductor |
| S | Ground (Sleeve) | GND | Ground and shield return |
Notes
- Unbalanced; susceptible to hum over long runs. Use balanced TRS or XLR for long cable runs.
