F-type Pinout
A threaded 75-ohm coaxial connector for cable TV, satellite, and antenna feeds.
Overview
The F connector is a threaded 75 ohm coaxial connector used for terrestrial TV, cable TV, satellite, and cable modems. Uniquely, it uses the solid center conductor of the coax itself as the center pin, so the connector body has no separate center contact.
Being coaxial, it has only two conductors: the center wire carrying the RF signal and the threaded outer shell carrying the shield/ground. The screw thread provides a secure, low-loss connection at the GHz frequencies used by satellite.
Pinout
| Pin | Name | Function | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Center | Signal | SIGNAL | Coax center conductor carrying the RF signal |
| Shield | Ground / Shield | GND | Threaded outer shell, coax shield and ground return |
Notes
- 75 ohm impedance. The coax's own center wire serves as the connector pin.
- Common on cable/satellite TV, antennas, and cable modems; usable to ~3 GHz.
