SATA Power Pinout
15-pin Serial ATA power connector supplying 3.3 V, 5 V and 12 V.
Overview
The SATA power connector has 15 contacts: each of the three rails (3.3 V, 5 V, 12 V) is carried by three paralleled pins for current, with five interleaved grounds. The wider-blade design supports hot-swap (ground and pre-charge pins mate first).
Pins 3, 7 and 13 are pre-charge/staggered functions. In newer revisions pin 3 also serves Power Disable (PWDIS); applying 3.3 V there can keep some enterprise drives powered off.

| 14 | +12V | POWER | 12 V power |
| 15 | +12V | POWER | 12 V power |
Notes
- Each rail uses three pins ganged for current capacity; five pins are ground.
- Pre-charge pins 3, 7, 13 and longer grounds enable hot-swap.
- Pin 11 can signal staggered spin-up or drive activity.
